BSF recovers heroin in Amritsar Sector

Jalandhar, January 22, 2013: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have successfully seized 10 packets of contraband suspected to be Heroin on Punjab border on Tuesday in the area of BOP Chanmulla, Amritsar Sector.  

Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border from smuggling point of view, Aditya Mishra, Inspector General BSF has issued operational guidelines to further strengthen border domination especially in view of foggy weather so as to effectively check the menace of narcotics smuggling on Punjab border with Pakistan. Consequently BSF Field Units are maintaining enhanced vigil on border.

On Tuesday, at about 220245 hrs suspicious movement of 3 persons was noticed across B S fence by BSF troops of BOP Chanmulla, Amritsar Sector. They moved very suspiciously towards B S fence with a plastic pipe in their hand (2 moved ahead and 1 stayed back). The ambush party kept close watch on the movement of the miscreants with the help of surveillance equipments and when they came close to B S fence, the ambush party challenged the miscreants but they did not pay any heed and continued to push the pipe. The ambush party fired on them to stop their mischief, resultantly miscreants fled away by leaving behind the plastic pipe dangling in the fence. During search of the pipe 10 packets of narcotics suspected to be heroin wrapped in plastic adhesive tape filled in a cloth sleeve near B S fenceabout 450 mtrs from IB in alignment of BP No. 88/20 were recovered.

The enhanced vigil of BSF troops has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers to smuggle narcotics into India.
