Chandigarh, March 19, 2019: The Department of Gandhian & Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh along with Sarvodaya International Trust organised a Lecture-cum-Book Release function, here today. Dr.Seema Malhotra introduced all the dignitaries to the audience and also informed about the event. In the beginning the Book titled “Gandhi: The Soul Warrior” authored by Pascal Alan Nazareth (Rtd.) Ambassador was released by Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Justice Pritam Pal, Former Judge Punjab and Haryana and Former Lokayukta of Haryana State. Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh congratulated the author and gave the message that we have to understand Gandhi by reading in between the lines and motivated the students and research scholars to improve their writing skills. On this occasion, Justice Pritam Pal emphasised that God’s biggest gift to us is our human body and advised everyone to remember that “everything is within you”. To quote him, he said, “Wherever you go, you take with yourself either a happy or a dull heart, and accordingly you will create either a heaven or hell of yourself.” Pascal Alan Nazareth (Rtd.) Ambassador in his talk on “The Global Impact of Gandhi: The Soul Force Warrior” said that “It is always better to light one candle than to curse the darkness”. He said, Gandhi was a non-violent militant/warrior who revolutionised revolution and spiritualised it without bloodshed and hate. Mr Alan also emphasised on the importance of Gandhi’s Maxim i.e. “He who fears fails.” So, the first thing for Gandhi in leadership was to get rid of fear. “You stand up and you fight, don’t worry about the consequences because if you stand up for the truth even if you die in the struggle, truth can not loose because for Gandhi Truth was God”, he said. So, by definition your cause will win if you stand up for the truth. He gave importance to remove hate from the heart of the people. The Chairperson, Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies & Honorary Director, Gandhi Bhawan, Dr. Ashu Pasricha, extended her warm thanks to all the invited guests and the attendees. She emphasised that the values, thoughts and principles espoused by Gandhiji can guide our planet towards a better future.
