Blue colour Astroturf to be laid at Jarkhar sport stadium

Ludhiana, May 7, 2016: Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar is about to lay new Astroturf of blue colour (7-A side) at its stadium. With this development, the Jarkhar village will be perhaps the first village across the country having this kind of Astroturf in a sports stadium.

Earlier, the Academy has setup Rs.5 crore stadium of first of its kind at the Jarkhar village. Besides, the players of this academy have given name and fame to the village after exhibiting their sports skills at the national level.
The academy’s director Jagroop Singh Jarkhar and others told that the size of the new blue colour Astroturf will be 160ft x90ft.

They told that an agreement to this effect had already been signed with New Delhi-based company Divya Enterprises.
Further, they said the company would bring raw material from China for preparing the new blue colour Astroturf for the sports stadium at Jarkhar.

“The project will cost between Rs.35 lakh-Rs.40 lakh”, they said, adding these funds would be arranged by the organizers of the academy with their own efforts.

Besides, other beautification work is being done, which include extension of the stadium and construction of four-corner road to Olympic block around stadium. This road to Olympic will be helpful in maintaining fitness of the sportspersons and letting the audience to move from one ground to another. A bridge on this road to Olympic is also being constructed.

Moreover, once the new blue colour Astroturf is laid then base of another 7-A-side Astroturf will be prepared. The construction of the same will also begin next month.

At present, around 100 players belonging to poor families are getting training in sports at this stadium.

Meanwhile, it has been stated that annual session of the academy will be held on May 15. On this occasion, the existing body will be dissolved and new team will be announced.
