Blood donation camp organised at PAU

Volunteers donate blood during blood donation camp organised at PAU, Ludhiana on Wednesday. 

Ludhiana, November 19, 2014: The Social Workers Association (SWA) and National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organised the fifth blood donation camp at Gurdwara Sahib, located on the University campus. The former Editor (Punjabi), PAU and an eminent Punjabi writer, Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill was the chief guest on the occasion. Many PAU students donated blood during the camp.
In his remarks, Prof. Gill urged the youth to come forward and perform good deeds by donating blood. “Blood donation saves the precious life and gives new life to the human being,” he said. He advised the students to serve the humanity with sincerity and set a fine example in the society.
Gurshaminder Singh, President of the Association, said that during past few years, five students, suffering from Thalassemia, were selected for treatment and at present, the number has risen to nine. These children are being provided blood by blood donation organisations, he added. Further, he informed that 250 units of blood were collected in the camp.
Giving details, Gurpreet Singh, a PAU student said that teams of Dayanand Medical College and Christian Medical College, Ludhiana also participated in the camp.
