Jalandhar, February 5, 2015: In an initiative to encourage voluntary blood donation, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus, organised a blood donation camp. The camp was organised as a part of NSS activity in association with NGO Pahal, NGO Blood Connect and Blood Bank, PIMS

It was a two day event. On first day the students were made aware regarding the importance of blood donation and following the blood donation camp. There was an overwhelming response for the camp from the staff and students.  It was good to see so many volunteers coming forward for a humane cause, their effort and service was highly appreciated. The ceremony was coordinated by Avnip Deora (NSS Program Officer), Assistant Professor in School of Information Technology.

Prof. Lakhbir Singh, NGO PAHAL who flagged off the event distributed the prizes and certificates to all the donors and emphasized the paramount importance of blood donation in cases of severe injuries and surgeries. Safe blood donors are the cornerstone of safe and adequate blood. Blood is the binding and bonding factor of humanity, and erases all differences of caste, color and creed. Community service starts at home, at school, and within the heart

Dr. Lumba , PIMS Jalandhar  said “Donating some units of blood, may save someone's life without generating any problem to donor’s body. In fact, it refreshes our system by activating the bone marrow in order to replenish the blood loss, resulting in production of new red blood cells.”

In the end, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, thanked Prof. Lakhbir Singh and  Dr. Lumba for their  support. He also extended thanks to the students who participated in this Blood Donation camp very enthusiastically and also encouraged them for future participation in such events.
