FEROZEPUR, January 1, 2019: A case has been registered against one person for allegedly attacking a BDPO office employee. The accused has been identified as Nirvair Singh of Village Mehma who is also a Block Samiti Member. As per information available, on 29th December, a day before the Panchayat polls, the accused Nirvair called Rakesh Kumar, an employee of the BDPO office and asked him about adding and deleting few names in the voters list of village Mehma. However, Rakesh told him that this point of time, no name can be added or deleted from the list. Later, the accused Nirvair reached BDPO office along with few unidentified persons. The accused and his supporters first allegedly closed the DVR switch of the CCTV cameras installed in the office and also attacked Rakesh with sharp edged weapons. Later the accused allegedly took away some election related files and records.
A case under sections 380, 353, 186, 341, 506, 148, 149 IPC was registered against the accused at city police station (Case number 271 dated 31.12.2018). However no arrest has been made till now.
