Ludhiana, November 21, 2014: PCTE Institute of Hotel Management organised Cake Mixing ceremony with great enthusiasm. The celebrations witnessed the joy and excitement of students for the cake mixing.  The stirring ceremony is part of an age-old Christmas tradition of cake mixing and one making wishes for the New Year. The Ceremony of mixing different kinds of nuts, raisins and fruits with wine and liquor which is then put to store for preparing the Christmas cake, this starts few week before Christmas and the winter festivities.

Surinder Bisht, Assistant Professor, IHM elaborated that Christmas cakes are usually made well in advance and then the cake is kept upside down after baking in a safe airtight dish. The cake is fed with small amounts of brandy, rum or whisky into the holes of the cake every week until Christmas. Mohit Arora, student IHM, said that “It is a tradition to welcome the holiday season with a fruit soaking ceremony ahead of Christmas and I am very happy to be a part of it.”

Dr. K.N.S Kang Director General of the college said, “It is important for the students to be familiar with various religion and culture so that they love and respect all the communities and cultures”. He further added that “We want the students to imbibe qualities that would foster academic brilliance, physical development, spiritual well being and social responsibility”.
