Ludhiana, April 25, 2018: In a step towards saving the environment and providing habitat for birds, birds' nest made of clay were hung around trees inside campus of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana today under the aegis of NSS units of the college.
Giving details of the initiative, Er.Deepinder Singh, Program Officer, NSS said that around 50 bird nests have been sponsored by Panchi Pirh an NGO through one of the faculty members S.Varinder Singh of the college.
Principal Dr.Sehijpal Singh appreciated the efforts of NSS and students for coming up with such an idea which would help in preservation of the environment. Students were elated and took an active part in the installation process. They lamented that very few birds were to be seen nowadays and hoped that the new shelters installed would soon be occupied.
Dr.Arvind Dhingra, Program Officer, NSS thanked the NGO and the student volunteers for their effort.
