Bhagavad Gita Utsav begins at Panjab University

Chandigarh, December 19, 2018: Coinciding with the worldwide Gita Jayanti celebrations, Department of Psychology, University School of Open Learning(USOL), Department of Philosophy, USOL and Interdisciplinary Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies, P.U are organizing a 2 day Bhagavad Gita Utsav on 20-21st December, 2018 in the campus. Day-1 of the Utsav is devoted to varied Youth Activities featuring two contests- Bhagavad Gita Shlokachcharan contest and Bhagavad Gita shloka calligraphy poster making contest followed by workshops in the respective domains. After the contest, a well renowned Bhagavad Gita scholar Prof. (Retd.) Vikram Viveki, former Chairperson of Department of Sanskrit, P.U. will discourse on Bhagavad Gita following which the participants will hold interactions with the experts. Prof. Yojna Rawant, Chairperson USOL, who will be the Chief Guest of the concluding sessions, will also interact with the Young participants.
On Day 2 a National Seminar on the theme- Bhagavad Gita for Human Excellence will open at ICSSR complex. The inaugural session of the seminar will have a keynote address by eminent- Vivekananda Scholar and author Mr. A.P.N. Pankaj followed by Presidential address by Swami Satyeshananda ji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Chandigarh. Prof. Shankarji Jha, Dean of University Instruction (DUI), P.U. will be the Chief Guest of the session. Later in the Day eminent scholars Prof. Dinesh Gupta, former DUI, P.U. and Sr. Faculty, UBS; Prof. (Retd.) Vikram Viveki, Prof. R.P. Mishra from Kurukshetra University, Prof. Vashishtha from Thapar University; Prof. Navrattan Sharma; Prof. Nandita Singh; Prof. Rohanlal and Mr. Sudhir Baweja will address and interact with seminarians in the ensuing symposium and panel discussion. More than 20 scholars will be presenting their papers on themes as varied as - Better Life Management; Psycho-social applications; Value education; Management and Leadership and Mind Management in the context of Bhagavad Gita.
In the valedictory session well known Budhist management scholar Prof. Chawla, President WAAK, will speak on Better Self Management lessons from Bhagavad Gita. Prof. Yojna Rawat, Chairperson USOL will be the Chief Guest while Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Director, ICSSR, P.U. will preside the valedictory session. The organizers expect that the seminar and other youth activities organized during the Bhagavad Gita Utsav will help to spread the spiritual treasure and universal message of Gita.
