Chandigarh, November 24, 2014: The Punjab Government has approved Rs. 8.15 crore for three District Level veterinary polyclinics. Divulging the Details, Animal Husbandry Minister, Gulzar Singh Ranike said that state government would construct three art of state District Level veterinary polyclinics at Barnala, Fazilka (Arniwal Sheikh Subhan) and Pathankot to facilitate cattle rearer.  
He said that cost of veterinary polyclinics of District Barnala, Fazilka and Pathankot would be Rs. 2.69, 2.82 and 2.64 crores respectively.   Ranike said that Rs. 1.35 crore (Rs. 45 lakh for each veterinary polyclinic) has also been approved to purchase modern equipments.  
He said that Punjab Government has constructed 19 veterinary Hospitals and 9 veterinary polyclinics in last 5 years. “According to livestock census 2007, Punjab has 67.64 lakh milching cattels including 17.61 lakh buffalos and 50.03 lakh cows.  Cattle rearers have also engaged in the farming of sheeps, goats, piggery, poultry, stud farms & turkey farming and total 1270 veterinary Hospitals & 1485 veterinary dispensaries are working round the clock to facilitate cattle rearer” he added.
Ranike further added that Punjab is a leading state in milk production, poultry, broiler and egg production and Government is focusing to provide quality and superior breeding animals so the animal husbandry and dairy development could bring to new heights. “The opening of District Level veterinary polyclinics at Barnala, Fazilka (Arniwal Sheikh Subhan) and Pathankot would prove a boon for the progressive farmers in the field of animal husbandry and dairy farming” he said.
