BAN ON HORSE SHOW & EQUINE TRADE FAIR REVOKED

DUE TO GLANDERS DISEASE, BAN WAS IMPOSED IN JANUARY
Ludhiana, August 28, 2018: The ban on any kind of horse show and equine trade fair has been revoked by the Animal Husbandry Commission of the Government of India. This decision has been taken after the Union government has been successful in controlling glanders disease from the state, New Delhi and other adjoining states.
As per the Gazette notification of the Union government, the Animal Husbandry Department of Punjab Government has also decided to revoke this ban.
Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Mr. GS Toor informed that as per the orders of Animal Husbandry Commission of Union Government, ban was imposed on horse show and equine trade fair in Ludhiana district in January 2018.
Dr Toor informed that due to spread of glanders disease of horses, the Union government had advised Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to tighten existing check posts with regard to the movement of horses and also to avoid equine fairs.
He said that now the ban has been revoked in Ludhiana district.
