Ludhiana, November 13, 2014: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Ludhiana Supreet Singh Gulati has directed the officials from Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab that the students and children of Ludhiana district should be educated about the weeklong "Bal Swachhta Mission" which would be launched on November 14.
This weeklong campaign would be launched on November 14 on Children’s Day (Bal Divas) and its main aim would be to motivate children in keeping themselves, their homes, schools and surroundings clean.
Gulati issued these directions during the monthly review meeting of officials from all government departments held at Bachat Bhawan, here today. He said that this Bal Swachhta Mission is the next phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014. Gulati said that the Bal Swachhta Mission would be a nationwide sanitation initiative focussing mainly on children.
He said there would be six main themes for the Bal Swachhta Mission that include a clean school and Aanganwadis, clean surroundings, clean self, clean food, clean drinking water and clean toilets. The spokesman said children would also be administered pledge to keep themselves and their surround clean.
During the meeting, Gulati also directed the officials that all projects initiated for the welfare of residents should be completed on time and that he would not tolerate any delay. He also directed the District Agriculture Officer to educate the farmers for not burning paddy straw by organising camps in different villages of the district.
This meeting was attended by officials from all government departments.
