BAJA Static Events and Technical Evaluation held for BAJA SAEINDIA 2018 at IIT ROPAR
The only all girls team from Shri Vishnu College of Engineering from AP felicitated Ropar, March 8, 2019: The first day of Mahindra presents BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 began with Inauguration, Technical Evaluation and Static Events like Sales Presentation and Cost Evaluation for all BAJA teams. On the occasion of International Women’s Day today the only all girls team from Shri Vishnu College of Engineering from AP was felicitated by the Chief guest and Guest of Honour, Mr M P Poonia, Vice Chairman AICTE and Mr Sanjiv Kumar from BPCL respectively. Earlier in the day, Dr M P Poonia, Vice Chairman AICTE gave the inaugural speech as a chief guest. He stated that students are the backbone of the future economy and their practical exposure is very important, AICTE understands this critical need and is making all the efforts for the same. He also announced that the winning teams going for International participation will be given Rs 10 Lakh each to ensure India comes out in flying colours among other countries. He appreciated the efforts of SAEINDIA, IIT Ropar, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, ARAI, BPCL and other sponsors. Dr Sarit K Das, Director IIT Ropar gave the welcome address on behalf of IIT Ropar and Mr Sanjay Nibandhe, Chairman SAEINDIA Western section, gave welcome address on behalf of SAEINDIA. Dr Das said,” Life is note about where you start, life is all about where you end.” He further said that SAE BAJA is breeding ground to create new products which country needs for its progress. He also highlighted that BAJA is a platform which creates innovation, a sense of analysis and enthusiasm to create something. Charu Goyal, co-convener of SAE BAJA 2019 gave vote of thanks at the end of the inaugural session. After the inauguration, a representative Car No 54 from Saffrony Institute of Technology, Ahmedabad was unveiled at the hands of dignitaries. Today, a total of 75 out of 83 expected teams registered totalling to 1800 students. All 75 teams completed the Sales presentation whereas 55 teams completed cost evaluation, evaluated by 50 judges from the industry. During Technical evaluation, 25 out of 35 teams cleared the safety check whereas 10 teams cleared the brake test. Also, 20 teams were shortlisted for Go Green evaluation. Interaction of faculty advisors for Dronacharya Award started today, where around 25 faculty advisors participated. On March 7, 2019, 353 students from 4th year and 240 students from 3rd year underwent their BAJA Aptitude Test (BAT)- a preliminary qualifying round for the HR meet. 96 students qualified from 4th year and 34 students from 3rd year. Final year engineering student Mr. Kishan Pandya from AD Patel Institute of Technology, VV Nagar scored the highest marks in HR round. Tomorrow, Day 2, March 9th, the Technical Evaluation, Design Evaluation and Dynamic events would continue.
