Chandigarh, November 18, 2015: Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal today appealed all the Punjabis for seeking their whole hearted cooperation to maintain peace, amity, communal harmony and brotherhood besides further propelling the state on the path of growth, development and prosperity.
In a message addressed to all Punjabis on Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR), the Chief Minister said that it had ever been his sacred duty to preserve peace and communal harmony in the state as he firmly believed that the process of development, progress and prosperity was not at all feasible without it, to ensure overall welfare and growth of Punjabis. Mr. Badal said that he always opposed to any sort of conflict or confrontation from the core of his heart. Adding he said, “We have always followed the policy to cooperate and respect everyone and would follow the same in future too.” He further said that unwarranted confrontation was never had been a part of his nature and stated, “Punjab belongs to all of us and we all belong to Punjab.”
The Chief Minister further said that to usher in a congenial atmosphere of peace, amity, love, unity and communal harmony was their priority, aspiration and policy as preached by the Great Gurus, Saints, Seers and Prophets on this sacred land.
Mr. Badal further reminded that all Punjabis had faced a traumatic period for long time when our traditional atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood was exploited to the hilt. Several conspiracies were hatched in those times to divide the people living like brothers from centuries on sectarian lines. The Chief Minister said that we made stupendous efforts to take Punjab to the new heights of glory. Mr. Badal added that in fact the Punjab has become a leading state in the country in different sectors namely viz Agriculture, Power Generation, Health, Education and Infrastructure development. The congenial atmosphere of the state and industrial friendly attitude has forced not only Indian but International Business Tycoons also to invest in the state. This was evident from the recently concluded Global Progressive Punjab Investment Summit.
Mr. Badal further pointed out that however some anti-Punjab elements could not digest all this and they were hell bent upon to de-track the ongoing process of development and growth in Punjab. These elements were busy enough since long to create rift between different sections of societies and communities besides hatching conspiracies with a view to disturb Punjab's peace and harmony as they had been getting support and patronization from various sides.
The Chief Minister revealed that the second major aspect of this conspiracy was to give bad name to the Valiant Sikh Community- known as Country’s ‘Sword Arm’ by showing disrespect to their great history, legacy, traditions and code of conduct (Maryada). He said the Sikh Community and all Punjabis have a glorious past of patriotism and bravery.
The Chief Minister said that the SAD-BJP alliance government elected with the mandate of people was not only committed to maintain peace, communal harmony, brotherhood, development and prosperity in the state vis-à-vis law and order but also firmed to expose the nefarious designs and conspiracy to mislead the people to again push them in to those black days.
Making a firm resolve to maintain peace and communal harmony in the state, Mr. Badal assured the people that he being the Chief Minister of Punjab would never allow anyone to take law into their hands.
