Ludhiana, October 18, 2016: Punjab chief minister, Parkash Singh Badal has urged upon the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to give special industrial package to Punjab for further promotion of industries in the state.
He was speaking at the function on Tuesday, in which of Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the national SC/ST hub and the zero defect, zero effect on environment (ZED) scheme for the MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) sector at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. Badal said that the state of Punjab had suffered heavily due to certain reasons. He said the Partition in 1947, 15 years long militancy in Punjab had badly affected industrial growth. Citing some other reasons, he said that the state was at a distance from the port, resulting to which the industry of Punjab was lacking in competition, raw materials were available at a higher rates. He sought that the raw materials’ rates should be at par in all the states. Punjab had also suffered a lot being a Border state.
He lauded Modi for surgical strike and salute to the Indian Army. He said that the surgical strike had further exhibited bravery of the country. He said this initiative had given a new boost among the countrymen.
Badal said Punjab had got a lot since the arrival of the Modi government at the Centre. He said the state had got a big hospital (AIIMS), IIM in Amritsar, status of smart city to Ludhiana. Speaking about Ludhiana city, he said Ludhiana was heart and mind of Punjab.
Speaking about the situation of peasantry in Punjab, he said the farmers of the state had done a lot but now the farming alone was not sufficient. He asserted that there was a need of industrialization in the state.
