Chandigarh, July 2, 2015: Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab has today reiterated that the backlog of posts for the blind in Education Department would be filled soon. He said that the process for filling these posts has already initiated and he has categorically directed the officers to complete the whole exercise within stipulated time period.
The Minister said that the SAD-BJP Government was committed for the welfare of visually impaired section of the society. Earlier he chaired a meeting on the issues of blind employees. In this meeting Mr C Roul, Principal Secretary, School Education, Mr. Jaswinder Singh Nayyier, Deputy Director, Mr. Gurpreet Singh Chahal, Founder of National Federation of Blind, Mr. Bawinder Singh, General Secretary and Mr. Devinder Singh, President of Bharat Netarheen Sewak Smaj.
Dr. Cheema has also disclosed that the counselling for the posts of hobby teachers reserved for the blind would be commenced after July 9. On the demand of disbursal of handicapped allowance at the respective district head quarters instead of state headquarter Dr. Cheema desired that the matter would be taken with the finance department for redressal.
