AWARD CEREMONY: Dr. Badrinath receives `Sat Paul Mittal National Award’

Ludhiana, November 17, 2012: Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust celebrated the 123rd birth  anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru- apostle of peace and architect of modern India here today.

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit was the chief guest.

On the occasion, Sat Paul Mittal National Award for outstanding service to the humanity for the year 2012 was presented to Dr. SS Badrinath, Chairman, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai and Pardada Pardadi Educational Society, New Delhi for outstanding service to humanity.

Besides, Sat Paul Mittal Award of appreciation was presented to V. Thalaimalai from Tamal Nadu.

A total amount of Rs. 5.50 lakh alongwith citation and a copy of the biography of Sat Paul Mittal was presented to the Awardees of Sat Paul Mittal National Award 2012.

SCD Government College for Boys, Ludhiana also received the Nehru Trophy for the 17th Inter-College Debate organised by the Trust and individual prizes were presented to the students in individual category.

Nehru scholarships to poor and deserving students and Mittal-Panday Scholarship (girls) were also presented to students from various schools and colleges.

In total, 1,007 scholarships worth Rs. 16 lakh were distributed.

In her address, Sheila Dikshit congratulated the recipients of the awards and the scholarships.

She also recalled her memories with the Mittal Family.

The Delhi chief minister also paid rich tributes to Pt. Nehru.

She lauded Ludhiana city for its spirit of entrepreneurship across the world.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal, president of the Trust also spoke.
