Assault on AIG: Police arrest all 3 main accused

Ludhiana, December 26, 2012: Police have arrested all the three main accused in a much publicised case of attempt to murder in which AIG Police (Counter Intelligence), Ludhiana Range SS Mand also sustained injuries during scuffle and is undergoing treatment in a local private hospital.

Addressing a press conference here this evening, Ishwar Singh, Police Commissioner, Ludhiana told that one of the three accused Emman alias Aman was arrested near Rose Garden here at around 11 am today.

He told that the remaining two main accused Maninderpal Singh alias Sunny Johar and Rishi Banda had been arrested by Mohali Police. He told that both these accused were intercepted between Derabassi and Zirakpur by a police party of SP Detective, Mohali. The accused were travelling in a car at the time of their interception.

He told that both Sunny and Rishi Banda had tried to flee after abandoning the car, but were overpowered.

Further, he told that a .32 bore revolver alongwith six cartridges which had been snatched from the complainant Paramjit Singh, an NRI from Canada, had been recovered from Sunny.

He told that both Sunny and Rishi Banda would be handed over to Ludhiana police soon.

Singh reiterated that there was no question of political pressure on the police, as they were following the policy of zero tolerance to deal with the criminal elements. He told that police had been able to arrest the accused within 24 hours of occurrence of the incident.

To a question, he told that they had not recorded the statement of SS Mand so far.
