Dharamshala, September 20, 2017: The BJP MP and former CM of Himachal Shanta Kumar has written a letter to the Governor of Himachal Acharya Dev Vrat to insure a law in Himachal which could take care of the stray cows in the state. He said that the cows when stop giving milk are being left on the roads. “How these cattle to be provided with a living cover and food is the serious matter to be looked after by the state government. One can see these cattle herds in the extremely precarious conditions on almost every state or national highways in Himachal,” said MP. He added that many of them die due to road accidents, making rather worst conditions to travellers too.
He further wrote in his letter to governor, “We are lucky to have you as our governor, who is dedicated towards Indian civilisation and culture and can defiantly trace a way to give new life to these roaming around cattle.”
Shanta Kumar suggested that hundreds of Temples in Himachal, the Dev Bhumi (Holy land), can give way to solve this problem and save cow. Kumar said , “ many of these Temples are Government controlled , lakhs and lakhs of devotees visit them daily, and the offerings are unlimited .”
He said that the government must order that every temple should have a big Cattle home (gaushala ) to be controlled and managed by the Temple committee with their own funds. They could also earn from milk , milk products and Gau Mutr (used in several medicines). The devotees shall also donate for these Gau Shalas, as they are doing in other states.
Shanta Kumar said, “If a law in this regards be made, all the roads of the state shall be cleared of these animals.” He added that as far the position of the present government in Himachal, he thought it better to write to the Governor of the state ,so that this problem could defiantly be solved.
