ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY: Badal salutes martyrs

Chandigarh, December 7, 2012: On the occasion of the Armed Forces Flag Day 2012, Director Sainik Welfare Punjab Brig.(Retd.) Manjit Singh today pinned Armed Forces Flag on the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here at CM’s residence.

Principal Secretary Sainik Welfare Mr. G Vajralingam was also present on the occasion.

A five member team of Ex-servicemen Sanik wing of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) led by its National President Er. Gurjinder Singh Sidhu also pinned Armed Forces Flag on Badal to mark the occasion. 

Paying befitting tributes to the martyrs and brave soldiers of our country on the Flag Day, Badal said that this historic day gave us an opportunity to re-affirm our solidarity with the Armed Forces and to recognize the Services of Ex-servicemen. He also called upon the people to salute the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice and courage, besides contribute voluntarily and generously towards the Flag Day Fund, which would be utilised for the noble cause of the rehabilitation of war widows, disabled defence personnel and Ex-servicemen.  He further said that it was a humble contribution and token of respect towards the outstanding services rendered by our valiant soldiers who zealously guarded our borders around the clock.

On this occasion, Badal also released a Compendium on welfare schemes of state and Centre government for ex-servicemen, widows and their wards.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister SK Sandhu, senior Vice president Ex-servicemen Sainik wing of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Capt. Gurmeet Singh, Col. BS Brar, Col. HPS Gill, Capt. Ajit Singh, Subedar Dharam Singh and Amrik Singh.
