Chandigarh, December 15, 2012: Gobind Khatra, Punjab president of the National Students Union of India has been appointed the National General Secretary of the NSUI.
The appointment was made today.
Expressing his gratitude to the national leadership particularly the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Khatra said, he will continue to work and strengthen the NSUI not only in Punjab, but across the country as well.
Ever since Khatra took over the reins of NSUI, it has come up as a vibrant force in the state. He had taken over at the time when the Akali supported Students Organisation of India was intimidating the opponents.
Recently during Rahul Gandhi's visit to Punjab NSUI under Khatra's leadership organised a massive students rally in the Panjab University campus at Chandigarh which earned him lot of accolades.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh has congratulated Khatra over his appointment as national general secretary of the NSUI and wished him good luck. He expressed confidence that the way Khatra succeeded in Punjab, he will succeed at the national level as well.
