Appeal to Punjab Government to regulate impending amounts of the 7th pay commission at earliest
Jalandhar: Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra, Principal, Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar and President of Principals’ Association Non Government Affiliated Colleges has appealed to the Punjab Government to regulate the impending amounts of the 7th pay commission at the earliest.
On behalf of the College Principals Association, Dr GS Samra has pledged support to the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teacher's Union (PCCTU)'s call of strike on 18 December 2019 in the same regard. Dr. GS Samra also look up the impending issue of post matric scholarship where in the dues from previous years are still to be released by the government while the nominal amount that has been released has been described as 'significantly short' of the actual amount. Principal Dr. Samra also recalled the notification released by the government of Punjab in the year 2015 wherein a total of 1925 assistant professors were appointed in 136 colleges of the region and has called on the government to make more such recruitment for the betterment of higher education in the region. As per the words of Dr. Samra, such impending cases have affected the levels of higher education and subsequently demoralizing the employees along with creating a financial crisis for the colleges of the region. Dr. Samra reiterated his commitment to the call of strike in colleges all over the region on 18th December 2019, demanding implementation of the 7th Pay Commission for the colleges.
