Another three years extension for Prof. A.S.Brar

Amritsar, June 11, 2015: Keeping in view the commendable work done by Prof. A.S. Brar, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, the Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of the Guru Nanak Dev University, His Excellency Prof.Kaptan Singh Solanki has extended the term of Prof Ajaib Singh Brar as Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University for a period of another three years. Prof.Brar will be completing six years in his office on July 14, 2015.

Notification regarding his extension was received from Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh vide letter no. PRB-2G-2002/GNDU/2933 dated, Chandigarh the 9-6-2015. According to the letter, the Guru Nanak Dev University Act 1969 as amended from time to time, the Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar is pleased to extend the term of appointment of Sh. Ajaib Singh Brar, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar for a period of three years with effect from 14-07-2015.

During his tenure the University has emerged as among the best universities of the country. After having earned the coveted titles like University with Potential for Excellence UPE & CPEPA, the University has earned ‘A’ grade from NAAC.

The second extension of Prof. A.S. Brar is an acknowdgement of his contribution towards making the Guru Nanak Dev University as among the top fifteen Universities in the country. Introduction of Choice Based Continuous Evaluation and Credit System has been a big step in the direction of improvement in the academic standards under Prof. Brar’s stewardship. This has not only raised the standards of teaching, but also brought about transparency in examination and evaluation. This system was based on the Trust on the integrity of teachers.

Prof. Brar thanked His Excellency Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, the Chancellor of the University and Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab for his extension in another three years term and gave credit of his success to University fraternity, Senators, Syndics, Principals of various affiliated colleges and students.
