Anurag Thakur becomes the first MP from Himachal Pradesh to be nominated for this post Dharamshala, July 18, 2018: At the onset of the Monsoon session of Parliament, BJP announced the nomination of Member of Parliament from Hamirpur in Himachal, Anurag Thakur as the Chief Whip in Lok Sabha. Anurag Thakur becomes the first Member of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh to be nominated for this post. Commenting on the development, Sh.Anurag Thakur said, “I would like to thank the party in general and Prime Minister Sh.Narendra Modi, Party President Sh. Amit Shah, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sh.Ananth Kumar for nominating me for the post of Chief Whip in Lok Sabha. I will discharge the duties and responsibilities of the post with utmost dedication and sincerity and ensure successful conduct of the Parliamentary business.” Chief Whip is appointed by the party in Parliament to help organise parliamentary business. He / she is responsible for administering the whipping system that ensures that members of the party attend and vote in Parliament.
