Dr.Goyal has got this copyright for developing the Synthetically animated dictionary of Indian Sign language for 2000 words. Dr.Goyal told that under the esteemed guidance and motivation of Dr Vishal Goyal (Professor in Punjabi University Patiala), he has been working for various projects for hearing impaired people. One of the projects was the creation of Indian sign language dictionary for which Dr.Vishal Goyal and Dr.Lalit Goyal has got the copyright. Dr. Goyal told that the special feature of this dictionary is that this is synthetically animated rather than the human videos. He further added that computer memory usage, scalability, and consistency by the animations will further improve translation technologies for Indian sign language. The developed dictionary is the first of its kind within India. Goyal said, “Sign language is the natural language used by hearing impaired people and they use their hand shapes, hand orientation, hand locations, hand movement, face expressions and body movements in three dimensional space for communication with others. Therefore, this computer generated animation would make the communication process easier by converting the text into the sign language animation” When asked for future plans in the area of research, Dr. Goyal said that the research work has not stopped and they are working for enhancing this dictionary by adding more and more words in it. They are also going to improve the accuracy of their previously developed Translation system for English Text to Indian Sign Language system by incorporating the system to deal with complex English sentences. Also, we are involved in many other projects which could be useful for the differently-abled persons. Some of the projects they are working on are the public announcement systems, Translation system from Hindi to ISL, translation system for Punjabi to ISL. Dr. S.K.Arora, Principal, DAV College, Jalandhar, congratulated both the researchers for their unique achievement.
