Ludhiana, November 30, 2014: The 2nd edition of Ludhiana’s first largescale non-profit Annual Marathon Event was held on Sunday at 9.30 am. The venue for the marathon was a 6.5 km Track within beautiful green IREO Campus, South City.
The event was open to participants in all age groups. The marathon saw a massive turnout with about 2,000 participants including students, singles and families running for top prizes.
The marathon like last year was organised by "Round Table India" & their Ludhiana Chapter Ludhiana Round Table - 188. Participants were divided into 4 categories & winners were declared for each category. The winners took home exciting prizes such as bicycles, mobiles, tablets, holiday vouchers and hotel stays. Besides, each participant who completed the race was awarded with a congratulatory certificate.
A festive atmosphere was created by the organisers with a separate kids’ carnival area which had rides for the children like the big bouncy and different tattoo artists. A massive stage and huge LED screen was set up continuously showcasing the good work done by Round Table India for the society. Besides this, onsite free eye check up camp for all participants was provided by Sankara Eye Care Centre. Madhukar Tulsi President and Partner of IREO Group one of the Principal Sponsors of this event was all praises for the commendable effort put in by Round table India to organize this event.
Glenn Peat of Hyatt Regency Ludhiana described the event as a massive success. The objective of Round Table India through its Run-for-Education Ludhiana Marathon was to generate awareness for education of underprivileged children. Last year the organisation built 3 new classrooms for Government Middle School, Giaspura. The principal of the school Sadakar Singh Sarabha who was also present at the event with a large contingent of school children expressed his gratefulness for the selfless work being done by the team of round table India for underprivileged children.
Chairman LRT-188 Dr. Jitesh Jain told us that like last year, all the funds raised will be used for building classrooms in Govt. schools of Punjab catering to the poorest children.
