ANNUAL DAY: JUNIORS OF DIKSHANT GLOBAL SCHOOL STAGE 'THE PIED PIPER OF HAMLIN'

Zirakpur, December 21, 2018: The students of the junior wing of Dikshant Global School, Zirakpur, staged their 3rd Annual Day Function at the school campus on VIP Road. Students presented a musical adaptation of the well-known and well-loved classic tale of Robert Browning, 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin.'

"At Dikshant we make sure that a good edifice is created in the early years of a child's schooling. The idea is to expose the children in junior school to different facets of learning to nurture them in the right way. The staging of the musical was a part of this ongoing learning process. I am sure participating in the play will increase their self esteem and confidence." Said Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Dikshant Schools.

The fantastic, humorous adventure with a combination of unforgettable characters and funny stage actions by the students transported audience into a world of music, dance, mystery, love and laughter. The little ones presented a skilful and well orchestrated musical. The setting was quite impressive as the costumes worn by the young actors really matched well with the characters showcased in the original story. What's more, the stage ambience created also was reminiscent of the times that the story belongs to.

The programme embarked with a Ganesh Stuti, followed by auspicious lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to the founder of the school Late Shri O. N. Dikshit. In the Prize Distribution Ceremony, the achievements of the school during the session were highlighted. Students and faculty members were awarded for their extraordinary performance in academics, co-curricular activities and the ongoing reading program during the academic year.

It is noteworthy that ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin ’ is the story of an arrogant politician, Mr Mayor, who doesn’t care about the town and the hard-working people who live and work there. He is a greedy man who earns a big salary which he spends on overseas trips, golfing and beautiful things. He is a tyrant who meets his match when, in desperation, he hires a strange piper to rid the town of rats.Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t want to pay the Piper for his services. In retaliation, the Pied Piper leads the children from the town and hides them within a magic mountain. The townsfolk quickly realize the error of their ways and search for the mysterious musician.
