Anil Joshi Issues Strict Guidelines To Medical Education Officials

Chandigarh, August 11, 2015: In view of certain controversial decisions taken up at the level of the Medical Council of Punjab, Mr.Anil Joshi, Medical Education and Research Minister called a meeting of the department and issued strict guidelines. Secretary, Director Research & Medical Education and Registrars of all the councils under his department present in this meeting. Mr. Joshi while issued guidelines said that all officials should strictly work as per the mandate given to the council as per the Act/Rules and not to exceed their jurisdiction and order for cancellation of licenses relating to other councils.
The Minster reiterated that all officials are Government servants and are bound by the Civil Service Rules and in case they pass any wrong order, they shall be proceeded against as per rules. The Registrars of various councils were responsible for the record under their custody and were not supposed to allow any record to be taken outside office without their express approval. The Registrars of councils were directed to use the powers delegated to them as per act/rules in a rational and judicious manner in the best interest of general public in a transparent manner.
The Minister also advised to cancel for any record from public too in a judicious manner keeping in view the period and volume of the record involved. The Minister made it clear that the license of Dr O.P. Arora of Ludhiana has not been cancelled till date and this issue was being dealt with as per rules and necessary action will only be taken by the Registrar after following due process.
