Amritsar, November 5, 2014:  A Three day Amritsar CMS Vatavaran, an Environment & Wildlife Film Festival and Forum was concluded here today in the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditor of the Guru Nanak Dev University. This festival was hosted by Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences of the University in association with Centre for Mass Media Studies (CMS Vatavaran), New Delhi and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST).

On the third & concluding day of the international film festival, a Green Film Making Workshop for students, voluntaries across various school/colleges of the city was organized at the University. The workshop was introduced by Dr. Adarsh Pal Vig (Associate Professor, DOBES) and City coordinator of the festival who welcomed all dignitaries and voluntaries and extended a warm welcome to Mohd Aamir Aijaz (A Film maker from American India Foundation Trust, New Delhi, India). He apprised the audience about film making process- comprising of various steps such as production/editing/media planning etc. In the beginning Sundeep C. Srivastava stressed on the importance of promoting cinematic exposure to young minds.

There are 43 young participants from various corners of the city taking training on how to shoot green films on the theme of environment. They were taken to Botanical Garden for shooting small clips on biodiversity under the guidance of expert film maker. Participants will be taught about production & editing the films shoot by them.

Dr Adarsh Pal Vig, told that simultaneously various national award winning films are being screened across the city at various educational institutes and organisations such as Hindu College Amritsar, G D Goenka Public School Amritsar and All India Pingalwara Charitable Society and Central Jail Amritsar to cover all sections of the society regarding awareness on environment issues.  The film festival gained a very encouraging response from all quarters such as students/teachers/organisations/research scholars in the form of active participation. A team of Faculty members, Research scholars, and students of the department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences acted as volunteers to conduct all programmes & film screening throughout the city.
