AMIFEST – 2019 begins
Amifest, the two-day (19th & 20th Feb) management and technical fest organized every year by Amifest University Haryana (AUH) ushers in the spirit of enthusiasm and exuberance among the youth. Amifest 2019 was inaugurated on 19th February at 11am by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr P B Sharma, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Maj GenB S Suhag (Retd); Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Padmakali Banerjee; Dean of Students Welfare, Maj. Gen G.S. Bal (Retd),; Registrar, Mr S.Sengupta; Directors of department; in the presence of faculty members, staff and students. Students and faculty from all the departments of AUH including ASET, ABS, ASAS, AIB, ASLA, ASCO, ASL, ALS, ASAP, ASFDT, ASE, ACC, ASFA, AMS, ACON, ASH, and AIBAS organized more than 70 events and participated in them. More than 1500 students from Amity University Haryana participated in different competitions organized as part of the two day fest. The participation of students in the events was a testimony of their leadership skills, and their willingness to contribute in making AUH a repository of talent. Maj Gen G S Bal (Retd), DSW, Amity University Haryana said “Amity University is the research and innovation driven University, the talent exhibited by the students in both organizing and performing at event shows creativity and talent at its best.” A total of 30 colleges and universities from outside is particpiating in Amifest 2019. This included some of the colleges from Delhi University (Deen Dayal Upadhyay College, Hansraj College, DCAC) GITM and other reputed universities of Delhi NCR such as G.D. Goenka, K.R. Mangalam, North Cape University, Bharti Vidyapeeth, KIIT University, and Luxury Connect Business School. More than 500 students from these institutions participated in different events during the two-day fest. The event was organized by student core committee headed by students Sonu and Samuel and mentored by Dr Ranjana Kothari, Deputy Dean of Student Welfare. As part of Amifest 2019, exhibitions were organized by ASET (technology and innovation), ASAP (planning and architecture) and ASFA (art and design) in which students showcased their brilliant and skillful innovations. On the first day, all the participants were encouraged and supported by a huge audience comprising members of the faculty, staff and students of the university. The grand finale comprised of competitive events – Battle of Bands, Group Dance, Solo and Duet Singing Competition and Theatre. Eight events were organized for faculty and staff such as Kite Flying, Freeze Dance, Arm wrestling etc. National Theatre Fest ABHIVYAJNJANA was also organized by Amity Dramatic Society ‘Ek Awaaz’ in which 23 teams (Hansraj College, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Hamdard, Jesus and Marry College, GD Goenka University, BML Munjal University etc, Chandigarh University) participated in the event. Sukhmanch theatre gave a brilliant performance with their very famous play “Gagan Damama Bajyo” directed by Shilpi Marwah. The Chief Guest and judge for the theatre fest was the famous theatre artist Shri Saleem Shah who has an experience of more than two decades in the film industry.
