AMBASSADOR of Kazakhstan calls on Punjab Governor

Chandigarh, March 26, 2013: Doulat Kuanyshev Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India today called on Shivraj V. Patil, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh at Punjab Raj Bhavan.

Discussing various issues at length, Patil said India enjoys mature bilateral relations and strong socio-cultural linkages with Kazakhstan. He emphasised the need for further strengthening economic and trade ties through vibrant partnership and joint ventures in different fields of activity.

Patil said that there was a major scope to further expand business cooperation in the fields of agriculture produce. He said if both the countries exchange their individuals and delegations in this area to know each others’ experience and expertise, would be proved of immense mutual benefit of people on both sides. He said that the state of Punjab has achieved a major breakthrough in the agriculture sector and allied fields and state is emerging as a progressive and vibrant investment destination. He said the State Government has evolved a responsive mechanism and coordinates agri-related activities in close coordination with the scientific experts of Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. He suggested for strengthening partnerships in agri-related ventures especially food processing which has a major scope of collaboration.

Patil asked the Ambassador as to what are the specific areas where Kazakhstan would like to emphasise on.

The Ambassador apprised the Punjab Governor that there is a tremendous scope for bilateral economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and India, especially in nuclear energy and other natural resources such as oil and minerals with special focus on agriculture. He said the Kazakhstan’s economy will be closely connected to its further integration in international trade and investment relations, efficient use of its natural and human resources, incremental exports of industrial and agricultural products.  He said that the potential for bilateral cooperation is enormous and the current state of this cooperation is well behind our capabilities and aspirations. This needs to be accelerated and strengthened further.

Patil also presented a set of religious books to the ambassador.
