Allotment of house numbers to persons residing in 'lal dora' on cards: Ranike

Chandigarh, June 18, 2014: In a bid  to provide easy loan facility to the poor residing in 'Lal Doara' (village premises) without any ownership record, the Punjab Government in principle has decided to launch a state-wide drive in coordination with various departments.

Presiding over a high level meeting with the department officers, Punjab Welfare Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike said that  Punjab Government would allot the numbers to the houses falls in 'Lal Doara' (village premises) after conducting a survey.

The Minister said that if any poor person lodged in the jail due to civil and criminal case, the number allotted to his house would help him/her to get the bail. He said that the poor people would also get the ownership of their houses, which will help them a lot. Village common land (Shamlat land) which comes under the Red Line, whose survey has not been conducted that common land will be safe from illegal possession.

The minister further said that to look into the legal issue involved in the allotment of House number, a Legal Expert Committee would be constituted. This committee would suggest the way and means to deal with such contentious issue.

He also said that after the death of the head of a family it is very difficult for the next generation to transfer the property on their name that is why numbers are allotted to the houses who come under line. This will also help in to get the Residential certificates, schedule casts and other backward classes certificates.

Seema Jain, Secretary, Welfare; Director, Welfare; S.S.Khaira, Special Secretary, Revenue and Deputy Director, Rural Development and Panchayats were present in the meeting.
