Allegations levelled against the Returning Officer of constituency Gill found baseless: District Election Officer

Ludhiana, February 6, 2017: Allegations levelled against the entry of the outsiders in the strong room against the Returning Officer of assembly constituency Gill (reserve)cum district development and panchayat officer Sh.Gagandeep Singh Virk have been found baseless. District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Sh.Ravi Bhagat has clarified that no evidence of such incident has been found and this allegation is baseless and without any proof.

Sh.Bhagat said that he has sent team under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Sh.Mohinderpal Gupta and Additional Deputy Commissioner Police-3 Sh.Surinder Lamba who investigated the whole incident and did not find any of the related thing. He said that the team has checked the cctv cameras and also recorded the statements of the officials of the central security agency and it has been made clear that there is no truth in the allegation.

Sh. Bhagat has made an appeal if any candidate has any doubt about the strong room then he can have a view of the strong room daily at 11 a.m. in the presence of the Returning Officer. He said that the chief Election Officer Punjab has been apprised of the incident.
