All India Students Federation (AISF) demands withdrawal

Ludhiana: The All India Students Federation (AISF) organised a demonstration and rally at Machhiwara. Various speakers at the rally said that the government has utterly failed in sorting out the problems facing the nation particularly the students. The education has become very expensive it has gone out of reach of the common man. There is complete dearth of jobs and now the government's own organizations are admitting that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate has reduced to less than five percent. Some economies are even saying it to be 1.5% all sections of the people are now agitating for their demands but the government is unable to fulfill them. Having failed in meeting people's aspirations they are now trying to distract people's attention from real issues to the issues which are no more required. The citizenship amendment bill which has been passed by the parliament is a very draconian law which will split the society on religious grounds. It is against the basic ethos of constitution of India for secularism and democracy which were enshrined in the thought process of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Ambedkar, Gandhi and Nehru. We are already witnessing resistance to this act in almost every part of the country particularly in the northeast. The minorities are feeling cheated and very dangerous situation of polarisation on communal angle is developing. It is time we should all resist such things otherwise the country will be in a real dangerous situation. A similar law was enacted by the German parliament. Hitler had said that time that nothing wrong will happen to the Jews but what happened later on we all know about it.
Speakers also condemned lathi charge on the students of JNU, Jami Miliya and other places. The students have been demanding reduction in fees. The rally was addressed among others by Deepak Kumar, Vishnu Kumar, Ravikant Jagdish and Bobby. Earlier a meeting was held in which Dr Arun Mitra former student leader and Avtar Chibber a trade union leader explained the intricacies of the citizen amendment bill and called pang students to oppose this.
