All India Inter-University Judo (MW) Championship inaugurated at GNDU Campus

Players in action during the All India Inter-University Judo (MW) Championship at GNDU Campus in Amritsar on Friday.

Amritsar, January 30, 2015: All India Inter-University Judo (MW) Championship inaugurated here today at the Indoor Multipurpose Hall of the Guru Nanak Dev University. This championship would be concluded on February 6. As many as 100 teams comprising about 600 judokas from different universities are participating in the championship.

Vice-Chancellor, A.S. Brar inaugurated the championship while    H.S. Randhawa, Deputy Director Sports & Head detailed about the championship.  Sukhbir Kaur Mahal, President, GNDU Sports Committee (Women) and Principle Khalsa College for Women welcomed the chief guest and others while  Mehal Singh, President, GNDU Sports Committee (Men) and Principle, Khalsa College presented vote of thanks.

Brar said that any game should be played with spirit of true sportsmanship without bothering its results. He said that sports are integral part of student life, so all students needed to participate in any sports event alongwith their formal studies. Today, events in the weight category of 78 kg, 70 kg and 63 kg were organised.
