Ludhiana, August 21, 2019: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Ludhiana organized a seminar on the Code of Wages Bill 2019 and Occupational Safety & Health and Working Conditions Bill 2019 (OSH & WC).
Addressing on the occasion Com.Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary, AITUC Punjab said that the bill is to take away the rights of the workers gained after long drawn struggles. But the government is out to destroy all these rights. The right to 8 hour working hours is being eroded and is replaced by fixed term employment. This will push the workers into abject poverty. The central minimum wage has been reduced to only Rs.178 per day of Rs.4628 per month. This is a mockery in the present situation of high price. The government is out to favour the corporate sector. The OSH & WC will completely take away the safety provisions of the workers.
He said that the trade unions all over the country will organize movement against these anti worker policies.
The seminar was chaired by Com.Ramesh Rattan, President, AITUC Ludhiana.
Com Vijay Kumar, general secretary thanked the participants.
M S Bhatia compeered the stage.
