Ludhiana, February 6, 2018: As a step forward towards sustainable agriculture, The Punjab Agricultural University has entered into multiple agreements with the following firms for commercialization of its various technologies. The university inked a pact with NSK Hybrid Seeds Farm, Patiala, for commercialization of PAU’s high yielding Chilli 27; Sonalika Industries, Hoshiarpur, Jaswant Agriculture Works, Sangrur, Malkit Agro Tech Private Limited, Patiala and Vishvakarma Agriculture Works, Moga for commercialization of Super SMS technology and; Vision Plus Enterprises, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar for Bacteriological Water Testing Kit technology. The MoA was signed by Dr Navtej Singh Bains, Director of Research, PAU and the organizational representatives in attendance.

Giving details, Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Head, Department of Vegetable Science said that Chilli 27 developed by PAU is a high yielding variety being widely accepted by farmers in the North Western part of the country.

The water testing kit technology developed by Dr Parampal Sahota, Professor, Department of Microbiology contains an easy to use kit that can detect water borne pathogens like E.coli responsible for causing gastrointestinal infections.

Dr Manjeet Singh, Head, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering informed that the “PAU Super SMS” attachment is becoming popular with a large number of farmers because of its use with combine harvesters for cutting, chopping and uniformly spreading loose straw while harvesting paddy.

Dr S.S. Chahal, Adjunct Professor, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, informed that PAU has inked 93 MoAs since 2012 and commercialized a total of 35 technologies.
