Dharamsala, March 2, 2016: The world cup T20 is going to start in the picturesque hill station Dharamsala on 9th March with the Bangladesh–Netherland Match, while the stage is warming up for two top ranking clashes between India–Pakistan and Australia–New Zealand later in the month. Dharamsala has become the most important centre of world cup T20, 2016 in India, where the maximum of 10 matches are being played.
Dharamsala which was granted test status recently is also being gifted with the first Day & Night Test in India later this year. This was disclosed by General manager Cricket Operations BCCI, Dr. M V Sridhar while talking to this correspondent at HPCA stadium in Dharamsala on Wednesday. Sridhar said, “The BCCI is under process to organize the first Day &Night Test match at Dharamsala, later this year. India shall play this match either against New Zealand or England.”
Sridhar said that after visiting HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala and observing the indoor and outdoor facilities in Dharamsala, he is fully satisfied that that this hill city is capable of hosting the first Day & Night Test Match of India.
Replying to another question Sridhar said that if required the BCCI can open National Cricket academy of high altitude in Dharamsala. Dr.M V Sridhar who is also the Tournament director ICC WT20, was in the city to see the ongoing preparations in the HPCA stadium and the areas of the stay for teams and officials. He said that the arrangements in Dharamsala are excellent. He will visit Mohali stadium tomorrow.
