Chandigarh, April 7, 2016: The Shiromani Akali Dal today lashed out at Arvind Kejriwal for trying to befool Punjabis after failing to fulfil any of the promises made to the people of Delhi.
In a statement issued here, SAD secretary and cabinet minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said that all major poll promises, including Wi-Fi in public zones, 55,000 vacancies in government departments, installing 10-15 lakh CCTV cameras, legislating Swaraj Bill, building 500 new schools and 20 new colleges and construction of new toilets had hit a stone wall. "Does Kejriwal have the same plans for Punjab too? he asked.
Dr Cheema said even as the AAP government struggling against controversies, it had also developed cold feet on its pet issues that drove the party to power. "These include the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill, Swaraj Act and full statehood to Delhi. These were the issues on which the Arvind Kejriwal-led government had resigned after 49 days in its previous stint”, he said.
He said that in last one year Kejriwal was seen indulging in political gimmicks to put a lid over the ill-governance of his government. He further added that the Delhi Chief Minister would also be remembered for stooping to a new low by calling Modi a "coward and a psychopath" after CBI raids on his principal secretary Rajendra Kumar's premises. “Arvind Kejriwal was well informed about the corruption charges of Rajendra Kumar. Transparency India informed him about all the cases in May 2015 but still Kejriwal saved him and did not take any action against him. Even today he is trying his best to save him by diverting all attention of media,” he said.
Hitting out at the defamatory style of Kejriwal politics, Dr Cheema said to come under media arc-lights at the expense of others was an important trait of Kejriwal. He said instead of focusing on governance and spending more time in the capital, Kejriwal was busy politicking in other parts of the country. "In Kejriwal's absence all sections of society have been agitating against the AAP government. Instead of resolving their issues Kejriwal has chosen to increase the salary of legislatures by four times and bestowed numerous perks on them," Dr Cheema added, EOM
