ADGP Prabodh Kumar To Supervise Investigation Of 6 Major Cases

Chandigarh, April 26, 2016: The Director General of Police, Punjab Sh. Suresh Arora has entrusted the supervision of investigation of six major cases to Sh.Prabodh Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, Internal Vigilance Cell & Human Rights who has recently re-joined the Punjab Police on completion of his deputation with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Sh.Prabodh Kumar has vast investigative experience during his 14 year stint in the CBI.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Punjab Police said that important cases, including the Dinanagar terrorist attack case, recovery of explosives from railway track in district Gurdaspur, attack on an RSS Shakha in Ludhiana, the recent murder of Sh. Durga Gupta in Khanna and two other cases of attacks on Shiv Sena activists will be supervised by him. The spokesman further informed that these cases include:

(i) Case FIR No. 27 dated 04-02-2016– registered in Police Station Jodhewal, Ludhiana regarding attack on Sh. Amit Arora of the Shiv Sena who received a bullet injury.
(ii) Case FIR No. 7 dated 18-01-2016 registered in Police Station Division No. 2, Ludhiana– regarding attack on an RSS Shakha in Shaheedi Park, Kidwai Nagar, Ludhiana.
(iii) Case FIR No. 119 dated 24-04-2016 registered in Police Station City Khanna– regarding the murder of Sh. Durga Gupta of the Shiv Sena in Khanna.
(iv) Case FIR No. 21 of 2016 registered in Police Station Division No. 3, Jalandhar – regarding attack on Sh. Deepak Kamboj of the Shiv Sena who received a bullet injury.
(v) Case FIR No. 71 of 2015 registered in Police Station Dinanagar, district Gurdaspur – regarding terrorist attack on Police Station Dinanagar.
(vi) Case FIR No. 39 of 2015 registered in Police Station GRP Pathankot – regarding recovery of explosives on railway track.

In addition, the DGP has also deputed Sh. Prabodh Kumar as the Nodal Officer from Punjab Police for effecting necessary liaison and co-ordination with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) regarding the Pathankot Airbase terrorist attack (Case FIR No. 01 of 2016 Police Station Division No. 2, Pathankot), the spokesman added.
