Ludhiana, November 30, 2019: The Aaram Physiotherapy Clinic (APC), Ludhiana conducted a two day workshop (30 Nov – 1 Dec 2019) on Functional Training for the first time in Ludhiana (and Punjab), at their Sarabha Nagar branch.
The two day workshop is being conducted by Dr.Mustafa Topiwala (MPT, Sports Rehab specialist), he is currently working as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the UMumba, Pro Kabbadi Team, and was earlier with the Indian Premier League (IPL Cricket) 3 time champions Chennai Super Kings. He received a warm welcome from Dr.Dheeraj K.V, Director, APC and Dr.Ruchika Bansal, Director, Physiotherapy and Fitness Academy (PHYFA).
Speaking on the occasion Dr.Mustafa explained that, Functional training is a classification of big exercises which involves training the body for the activities performed in daily life. Functional training is very important tool for rehabilitation with a goal of functional independence. Patients/ athletes/ marathon runners it's for everyone. He further added that, the treatment is designed as per their condition so its specific techniques involve basic functions, skills, endurance, muscular, cardiovascular. Functional training is task specific training which is long lasting with cortical reorganization to the areas of brain which is being used at each task. We get people who come for the functional training with all different physical conditions, and each one of them is able to get a maximum workout, he said.

Dr.Dheeraj KV, emphasized on the importance of Functional Training knowledge among the physiotherapists and fitness experts so that through them a fitness enthusiasts can get the right guidance to build total-body fitness. However, the results entirely depend on how dedicated and driven each person remains throughout the training schedule, he said.
Talking about the workshop Dr.Ruchika encouraged the individuals to focus on themselves and their own goals and not compare themselves with people around them. This helps remove the intimidation factor and allows individuals to freely work out and improve their fitness levels. She added that, PHYFA keeps on conducting such workshops and classes for the physiotherapists and fitness experts so that everyone can benefit and pass on the knowledge to layman so that the society can be impacted. Physiotherapists and fitness experts from and around the city attended and were benefited from the workshop and were given certificates (with 16 Credit Hours) by Dr.Mustafa.
