AAP teams to monitor procurement of wheat in Punjab!

Ludhiana, March 30, 2016: Aam Aadmi party has decided to depute its teams based upon volunteers in all the procurement centers in Punjab to monitor the procurement process of wheat crop and to assist farmers in redressing their problems in the Mandis. This was decided in the state level meeting of the farmers and Labour Wing of the party held in the new office of Party in 45-K Sarabha Nagar today under the chairmanship of Gurbinder Singh Kang state president of the Wing. All state office bearers , Zone Coordinators and sector coordinators of Kisan and labour wing participated in the meeting.
Giving details of the meeting Mr. Kang and State General Secretary Ahbab Singh Grewal informed that the volunteers and office bearers has been told to keep constant liaison with the famers and officials of procurement agencies with a view to ensure hassle free sale of the farmers’ produce. They added that during the peak procurement season, the senior leaders of the party will also visit the Mandis and have Kisan dialogue with the farmers. The senior leaders will explicit the opinion of the farmers for the preparation of the Election Manifesto. Mr. Kang and Grewal expressed serious concern over the indifferent attitude of both Union and state Govt. towards farming community. They blamed the Govt. for the deteriorating financial condition of farmers in Punjab, who were continuously committing suicide because of their inability to refund the loans.
Both the leaders asked the volunteers to keep full vigil on the procurement operations / so that no farmer was fleeced at the hands of procurement. They also appealed to the farmers to contact the party volunteers without any hesitation in case they met with any problem in Mandis.
