Chandigarh, September 23, 2019: In order to overcome the perennial problem of shortage of blood during medical requirements/emergencies, Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL) on the occasion of its 31st Foundation Day, organized a voluntary blood donation camp at its Institute in Sector 34-A here.
The camp was organized in partnership with the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh.
The employees of Aakash Institute and their families attended the camp, collectively donating 27 units of blood making the camp a grand success.
In the past few years, India has seen an improvement in the blood collection (from 9.8 million units in 2012-12 to 11.45 million in 2017-18). Despite this, India stares at blood shortage of a whopping 1.95 million units.
Speaking on the importance of blood donation, Aakash Chaudhry, Co-Promoter & CEO at Aakash Educational Services Ltd. and Founder & Trustee at Plaksha University, said, “We need to come forward and work collectively if we want to eliminate casualties that occur due to unavailability of blood during medical emergencies. It is heartening to see fellow colleagues come out in large numbers to donate blood which will save precious lives. My congratulations to the entire team who have made this camp a grand success.”
