Jalandhar, December 8, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya - The Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar organized the Valedictory function of the 9th DST sponsored INSPIRE Internship camp.
Dr.Manoj Kumar, Department of Chemistry, GNDU, Amritsar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Addressing to the gathering, the chief guest Dr Manoj Kumar congratulated the participating budding scientists of INSPIRE camp and motivated them to pursue science as a career. He emphasized on two different aspects of success in life: one was the importance of asking questions and the other was the reflection of your personality.
The final day of the INSPIRE Camp at KMV started with a talk by Dr.Bijay Singh, Senior Scientist at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The topic of his talk was "Nitrogen, Food Production and climate changes. He discussed the world food supply data from 1950-2011. He further told that every year 24000 people die from hunger and one in nine people are food insecure. He also further talked about greenhouse effect and the steps we can do with emerging scenario of fertilizer in agriculture. After the tea break, the next lecture was given by Dr Yogesh Kumar Singh from CDAC Pune. His topic for the talk was Space Technology. He started his lecture from satellites and Probes in which he differentiated between natural satellites and man-made satellites. He further discussed about the first rocket that was made by Tipu Sultan, Chandrayan 1 and Mangalyan. He ended up his talk by discussing on space centers in India and the opportunities that the students can have in this field.
At the end of the program, the convener of the program, Dr. Gopi Sharma presented formal Vote of Thanks to the esteemed guest, faculty members and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi and all the students of P.G. Department of Sciences. Principal Madam averred that the INSPIRE Camp is an intense learning experience for the budding young scientists in which they are exposed to essential aspects of sciences through various innovative activities. She also congratulated the Organizing Committee for the successful organization of the INSPIRE Camp.
The 9th INSIPRE Camp at KMV witnessed the presence of renowned scientists and academicians from the field of science namely Dr P.K. Pati, Professor & Head, Department of Biotechnology, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Arvind Dhillon, IISER, Mohali, Dr. Atul Khanna, Dr.G.S.Sodhi, SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Major General (retd.) G.G. Dwivedi, Prof. Dr. Karmeshu from Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida.
