911BUDDING PLAYERS selected for various Sports Wings and Academies

Trials being held for various Sports Wings and Academies in the trials held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, March 7, 2013: As many as 911 budding players (662 Boys and 249 girls) from Ludhiana, Roop Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa and Mohali have been selected for various Sports Wings and Academies in the trials held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana.

Kartar Singh Sehamby, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, said the games included in these trials were Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling, Football, Gymnastics (Artistic and Rhythmic), Judo, Handball, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Volley Ball, Weight Lifting and Wrestling.

All players were selected by the experts of different committees constituted by Punjab Sports Department in the final selection. 25% of the total players have also been selected as reserve in case of absence of players or according to seats available.

Players selected for Ludhiana are (266 Boys + 60 Girls), Mansa (08 Boys + 34 Girls), Moga (51 Boys + 33 Girls), Mohali (15 Boys), Patiala (85 Boys + 38 Girls), Ropar (69 Boys + 30 Girls) and Sangrur got (168 Boys + 54 Girls) approximately. Apart from these allotted seats some other wings also been created in some pits of the districts concerned. The registration of players was continued today also in view of the examination of the players and no one had been left.

The selected stuff will get Rs. 200 per player per day diet  for residential wing and Rs. 100 per player per day for day scholars and will be placed at the sports centre equipped with all modern facilities of their choice wings in the state for training.
