Chandigarh, July 31, 2019: New entrants have come into the fold of State Public Works Department (Buildings & Roads).
An induction ceremony was held at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Public Administration, Chandigarh.
Welcoming the new entrants Vijay Inder Singla, PWD Minister Punjab informed that 90 percent of the vacancies to the posts of clerks in the department have been filled up with the recruitment of 548 new employees as against approximately 600 vacancies.
He informed that the process of filling the posts of Junior Engineers and other cadres is also in the pipeline while almost entire backlog of recruitment on compassionate grounds has been cleared.
Motivating the new recruits to work dedicatedly, the Minister exhorted them to work in the allotted offices without looking for convenient stations as every station has its own set of challenges and opportunities which help a person to learn, grow and evolve as a person.
Later, Hussan Lal, Secretary PWD (B&R) gave the new entrants an overview of the departmental activities involving creation and maintenance of infrastructure as well as extending Architectural Consultancy services to all the departments of state government.
Satish Gupta Chief Engineer (Headquarter) briefed them in depth about the nature of work and exhorted them to synergise their individual as well as departmental goals in the interest of the State.
