Jalandhar: 85th Annual Convocation of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar was held on 1st May. Brig.I.M.S.Parmar, Group Commander, HQ NCC, Jalandhar graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr.M.C.Sharma, Treasurer, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi was the guest of honour. Among those present were principals from local schools and colleges and members of the local committee: Sh.Arvind Ghai, Sh.K.L Aggarwal, Sh.S.N.Mayar, Sh.M.L.Aeri, Principal Veena William, Sh.Irwin Khanna.
The convocation began with an introduction by the members of the staff followed by lamp lighting by the chief guest and recital of DAV Gaan.
A total no. of 1083 students, 846 who graduated and 172 who post-graduated in 2014-15 received their degrees. 65 students with distinctions and roll of honour were honoured for their achievements.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen extended a formal welcome to the Hon'ble guests and presented the Annual report of the institution with a special emphasis on its relentless efforts to scale new heights every moment. Addressing the degree holders as the light bearers of the institution, she motivated them to leave their mark by leading the nation into a new era.
Dr. M.C. Sharma gave his blessings to the students and highlighted the role of Arya Samaj in working for women empowerment. He paid homage to Maharishi Dayanand and other Arya Samajists whose noble ideas have been the foundation of many revolutions. He focussed on the need of inculcating a positive approach and working with dedication, commitment and a strong will power. He congratulated Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen for creating an intellectual environment in the institution.
The students and the audience were captivated by the motivating speech of Brig. I.M.S. Parmar who spoke high of the leadership qualities of the principal. He motivated the degree holders to be strong like a lioness. He believed that 80% of our challenges are nullified by our positive attitude, hard work, truthfulness and exhorted the students to face the challenges of life bravely as challenges are opportunities disguised.
On this occasion, the Staff Telephone Directory was also released by the dignitaries.
The house paid a standing ovation to the Armed Forces. A vote of thanks was given by Justice N.K. Sud, Chairman, Local Committee. He gave a call to practise equality in order to build a strong nation. The stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia and the degree holders were presented by Mrs. Mamta and Mrs. Ramnita Saini Sharda.
