Chandigarh, August 21, 2014: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer V.K.Singh today said that aggregate 71.17 per cent voting has been recorded at both Patiala and Talwandi Sabo assembly constituencies. He said that polling was ‘by and large’ peaceful and there was no report of any untoward incident from any polling booth
CEO said that latest information reaching here in the evening stated that about 60 per cent polling was recorded in Patiala, whereas 82.34 per cent voting witnessed in Talwandi Sabo assembly constituency.
V.K. Singh further said that the counting of votes for assembly by-elections would take place on August 25, 2014 and the result would be declared on same day.
He said that both districts’ administrations had made elaborate security arrangements for today’s polling. Large number of police was deployed in all vulnerable points. He extended his gratitude towards all the Political Parties and thanked the pooling staff and Police for enabling free and fare conduction of voting.
CEO also congratulated the voters of both constituencies for ensuring peaceful conduct of elections.
