Naraingarh, (Ambala), September 23, 2019: As many as 80 advocates attended a health talk on heart care at Bar Association, Naraingarh on Monday.
Among others, Dharamvir Dhindsa, Rajvir Singh and Sanjeev Jolly the president, vice president and secretary of Bar Association respectively were also presented.
Addressing talk, Dr Anurag Sahrma, Director Cardiology at Ojas Hospital, Panchkula said that this World Heart Day, we want everyone to be ‘Heart Heroes’ by making a promise to eat healthily, exercise more, stop using tobacco, asking children to be more active.”
He said, there is a need for awareness among general public about heart disease symptoms and actions required to tackle the emergency. Not only one should take care of himself or herself but equally important is to lend help to those who suffer heart attack and any other emergency related to heart.”
This year world heart day theme ‘Heart Heroes’ focuses on this aspect where every one should be aware of disease and its treatment. By this we can not only help ourself, our family and relatives buy can also be proved useful for the community, said Dr Anurag.
Taking about on eating habits to cut heart disease risk, Dr Anurag said that one should cut down on sugary beverages and fruit juices and choose water or unsweetened juices instead.
One should aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity 5 times a week or at least 75 minutes spread throughout the week of vigorous-intensity activity. Playing, walking, housework, dancing are they all count. Be more active every day, take the stairs, walk or cycle instead of driving. Exercise with friends and family and you’ll be more motivated and it’s more fun, said Dr Anurag.
Quitting smoking is the single best thing you do to improve your heart health. Within 2-yr of quitting, the risk of coronary heart disease is substantially reduced, remarked Dr Anurag.
