8 players and 12 coaches honoured in Annual Sports Awards-2015 of DAV College

Jalandhar, April 11, 2015: In an annual prize distribution function organised by physical education department of DAV College, Jalandhar, all the talented students were honoured. In the programme students who have played any sport at college, state, national or international level were awarded.  Along with that the students who have ever won any sport at the college level were given away the prizes.

BN Sharma and ML Aeri (former principal, DAV College, Jalandhar) director colleges were the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively and were welcomed with the garland of flowers by Vice Principals of the college, Prof PK Kapoor and Prof PK Sharma, as well as by HoD physical education department, Dr Manu Sood and Prof Saurabh Raj.

B N Sharma said that this is the golden period of a student's life. A student along with studies should also be an active participator in sports so as to progress completely.

Guest of honor ML Aeri while praising the worthy college and department asked the students to make a sparkling recognition of the college and their department at international level.

Chief guest B N Sharma and the guest of honour ML Aeri gave away the prizes to more than 250 sportsperson. Along with it, Gopal Singh, Anoop Kumar, Lovejeet Singh, Ankur Sondhi and other Coaches of different games were also honoured.

Dr Manu Sood read the annual report of the department. He said that it's the matter of pride that college bagged 1st position in 4 games at university level, 2nd position in another 4 games and 3rd position in another 4 games this year.

Vice Principal Prof P K Kapoor said that there is not just physical progress in the field of game, but it helps in shaping a complete person. Game is the soul of the player and sportsmanship is the virtue of game. Sportsmanship gives a disciplinary attitude and tolerance to the player. He also motivated the students to be a part of games with a great pomp and zeal.

18 players of the college, were honoured with a "special award" and "College Colour" for their para normal performance in the category of sports.

Basketball: Harmanpreet Singh

Kabbaddi: Ravinder Singh, Gursimran Singh.

Shooting: Uday Thakur

Yoga: Lakkula Rajshekhar.

Athletics: Harmanpreet Singh.

The stage was handled by Prof Parveen Sharma and the vote of thanks was given by HOD Dr Manu Sood.
